As the last hope against the evil Dark Division, The Guy is dropped behind enemy lines on a mission to thwart an experimental weapon test.

The Guy is a perfect example of what happens when you set out to do something without proper planning. This was supposed to be my final project of my sophomore year in college and it’s original concept was much, much better than the final product. It was supposed to be a dream sequence a kid was having in his back yard and all the action was just some over the top stuff this kid was making up. When The Guy gets shot at the end, it was going to cut to his parents watching him from their back door to see him lying in the grass, then his dad would walk up to him and they would start “fighting” while the mom watched on. I thought it would be a really sweet short.

I was wrong. This was actual hell.

We shot everything in one day because it was the first time I ever assembled a crew this big and this was the one day we could all be together. I had no idea it was gong to take so long to shoot, otherwise I would have been looking for other locations, other days we could shoot, ect. I remember being so determined waking up at 5am, readying everything, and heading to the set. then once it got to 12pm and we haven’’t shot anything yet is when I started getting really worried.

This whole experience changed the way I go about a production forever. From that day on I became METICULOUS about whatever I did. This short built character and pushed me to limits I did not ever expect to go. I owe a lot of who i am today as a filmmaker to the colossal failure that was The Guy

Oh man, what can I say about The Guy? It was the project that defined anything that can go wrong will go wrong. The night before I remember being really sick and dreading that morning. It wasn’t so bad but it was one of those things that barreled to the ground. Time constraints and everything in between made it what it was, but looking back on it I wouldn’t have wanted to work on such a monstrosity with anyone else than who was there that day/evening.

This was the start of something I wasn’t prepared for. After being asked to be an extra in Nick Carrodo’s short film “The Guy” I agreed to join them on set. That was the day that I found out, in front of a crew that I was not yet entirely familiar with, that I cannot act. We did the scene, with what I had to offer, and I took the rest of the day and sat by myself in the cabin
